What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?

Services provided by Leading Edge Learning Center (LELC) include tutoring, mentoring and educational coaching, diagnostic assessments, and test preparation, as well as career and professional skill development. Our programs are available year-round across six major counties throughout Southern California, with additionally specialized camps and accelerated courses offered during targeted periods. Annually and semi-annually, Loma Linda’s expert researchers evaluate the level of effectiveness of Leading Edge Learning Center's tutoring services. LELC has consistently achieved recognition for the high standards of our program design and our students' growth outcomes.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?

Leading Edge Learning Center is a California certified Supplemental Education Service Provider that was established in June 2004, with the opening of our flagship center in Moreno Valley, California. Leading Edge Learning Center, originally established to provide a chance for achievement to youth who were struggling academically, has grown over the years to be a leader in education, for all ages and all levels.

What do you love most about your job?

I love my job because I get to witness student growth every single day. There is nothing better than seeing a child/adult student when they are finally able to grasp a concept they struggled with in the past. Also, each day is different. The best thing about education is that there is something new to learn every day; not only for the student, but for those teaching as well.

What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?

The best reactions are the ones that come from the students. One situation that sticks out in my mind is the joy I saw when one of our students was able to raise her grade in Chemistry from a D to a B. The student mentioned that she could never have imagined doing so well. Seeing this confidence in our clients is the most redeeming part of our job.
