Flavors of Africa by Sheba Foods, Lilburn

Kunmi Tuyo-Oluleye turned an MBA and a family connection to food (her grandfather worked in Nigeria's baking industry) into an African food empire. She opened Sheba Foods, which prepares hot or frozen meals that draw on African recipes from across the continent, as well as from around the world, including the Caribbean and New Orleans. These pre-made, no-fuss meals include the likes of stewed black-eyed peas with plantains, egusi (a melon stew with mushrooms and stockfish), and jerk chicken with jollof rice. In addition to running food trucks, Sheba caters for large events, including Thanksgiving, when the cooks season turkeys with spicy peppers native to northern Nigeria. And guests who want to recreate Sheba's food at home can stop by its sister store, Flavors of Africa, to pick up everything from Nigerian suya pepper to Ethiopian and Kenyan coffees.
