Lightship Overfalls, Lewes

In its 34 years of active duty, the Lightship Overfalls has had many names, guided many ships, and seen many storms. Built in1938 for the U.S. Lighthouse Service, the lightship soon fell into the hands of Coast Guard crews who used it's brilliant beacon to safely guide ships to port through impenetrable fog and the hairiest of hurricanes. Today, history buffs can explore the ship and learn about it's many missions as it served the coast from the Long Island Sound to Boston Harbor.
