Ullrich's Shoe Repairing Loves You!
From Our Editors
Owned and operated by the descendants of an Italian master shoemaker, Ullrich Shoe Repair has grown from humble beginnings to a shop that has serviced the footwear of such clients as Tom Cruise, Britney Spears, and Jordin Sparks. The shop's history dates back several generations to the 1940s, when Anthony Putaro immigrated to America and set up shop with the cobbling skills he learned from his master. Today, Anthony's grandson, Rex, holds the reins and the shop enjoys its richest reputation ever in its entire 85-year history. In April, 2011, Esquire dubbed Ullrich the best cobbler in Pittsburgh. In earning such esteem, the staff has outfitted the feet of the stars in downtown plays including Wicked and The Lion King and performed repairs for the talented feet that star in the Pittsburgh Ballet.
