From Our Editors
- The History: Founded in 1926 in central NJ, duCret is the state’s oldest art school. A private, nonprofit corporation, the school is a well-established and highly esteemed entrepreneurial training center for emerging artists.
- The Mission: duCret aims to provide a semester-long arts-education comparable with the top art schools and academies in the nation. To do so, the school's programs combine a foundation in the fundamentals of art with the latest technology, including computer-based art programs. The programs prepare students for careers in the art industry.
- The Media: The school's curricula covers a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, graphic design, digital illustration, and interior design, photography, film, and computer-based art. Programs are for adults starting as young as 16 years old.
- Continuing Education: In addition to these standard semester course offerings, adult workshops and open-studio sessions are available year-round. Summer camps for kids and teens, ages 6-15 years old. The school also serves as a community art center and networking hub via other NJ arts organizations.
