University Center for the Performing Arts, Plantation

For nearly 40 years, University Center for the Performing Arts has taught kids and adults to unleash their creativity and channel emotion for stirring performances in a slew of different mediums. Folks who have never stepped foot on a stage and veteran actors alike challenge themselves in more than 75 weekly sessions that cover everything from stage and voice acting to modern dance. Children's classes, such as Little Shakespeares, start tiny bards off on the right foot with interactive games that teach kids from 3–5 the value of a vivid imagination. Adults, on the other hand, learn to tap into organic, honest emotions to bring characters to life in much the same way Dr. Frankenstein harnessed the power of electricity to bring his Billy the Bass Singing Fish to life.
