Getting an adrenaline rush used to mean participating in activities like sky diving, bungee jumping, or, at the very least, roller-coaster riding. Komnata Quest, however, taps into an old theme for a new way to send a jolt of excitement through your body: escaping from a locked dungeon before the clock runs out.

Inside the dungeon at Saint Angelo’s castle in Rome, many criminals and accused heretics met a torturous end during the Great Inquisition. At Komnata Quest, legend has it that anyone sentenced to death was first locked in the dungeon for one hour. If they could solve a series of puzzles and riddles and find their way out before the hour was up, they would earn their freedom. They say only one man, the sculptor Benvenuto Cellini, was able to escape the sinister dungeon all those years ago. Now, groups of two to six people can attempt to do what Cellini did and escape the dark, skeleton-filled dungeon in 60 minutes or less.
