This was an AWESOME experience that I highly recommend. Surprised my husband for his birthday with this flight lesson and we both had a wonderful time! Our pilot, Mike, was an absolute pleasure and an excellent instructor. We got to fly all around San Diego and see a bunch of cool sights.

Matt was my son's CIF, and he did a fantastic job of thoroughly explaining the aircraft and procedures besides making it a fun and enjoyable experience.

My husbands flight instructor was griffin and he was very thorough in his explanations and descriptions of the plane and how it worked. Very easy to understand and extremely personable! My husband enjoyed himself so much he is now thinking of getting his pilots license!

We were highly disappointed by our experience with Learn To Fly San Diego. I purchased this as a birthday gift for my husband who has been interested in taking lessons for sometime now. After reading the reviews I was more than happy to purchase from your company. Unfortunately, our experience was very different from those that left reviews. To start, the lesson started over 15 mins. late because the pilot/instructor was running late with a prior flight (even though the lady at the front stated that he had just run out to grab something... We later found out that he was with his last student and just running late to our appointment). This would not have been a problem, had our time been properly adjusted to accommodate the instructor and prior lesson's tardiness. The instructor himself was very abrupt (probably because he was running late) and failed to take the time to explain things as he went along. (Clearly because he planned to be on time for his 3:00 appointment.) As for the actual experience and purchase of "The Deal", I was even more upset by the following: -2 hour flight lesson (was only 1 hour 30 mins. At Best- it included the time to pay and the walk time to and from the rental facility) (appointment was at 1:00, we didn't even meet the instructor until 1:15 as he rushed by with the last appointment to check him out) -Around 1:20 we met the instructor and had his attention for our lesson. -Lesson didn't start until around 1:30, so it was very brief and rushed. -Had to wait for fuel for the plane when we were ready to go, so we didn't get started with the actual flight until 2:15. -The flight was even more rushed, as we spent a good amount of time in the air doing "donuts" around the stadium as we waited for clearance to land. -We were done with the lesson, and flight, had enough time to walk across the street and were paying by 2:45. The lesson we received was definitely not a 2 hour flight lesson, as purchased. -Never received the Instructional DVD, Poster, Logbook, Pilot-information kit, nor were we told where the aviation-facility library and computers were in order to have any such access to them... My husband would like to continue to take lessons and work towards getting his license, however, after our experience with Learn To Fly-San Diego, we will not be purchasing future lessons from your company.

I had lessons both with Griffen and Josh. Both of them are great instructors, extremely knowledgeable, they know how to make you understand the importance of all the details of the pre-flight check, and I would definitely recommend Learn to Fly as the place to choose to start becoming a pilot.

From Our Editors

While the average person spends thousands of hours stuck in traffic during a lifetime, the instructors at Learn To Fly San Diego prefer to rack up that time in the sky. Each member of the certified flight team keeps track of their time off the ground, with numbers ranging between 1,500 and 36,000 hours. As the propellers turn on Cessna and Piper planes, the pilots lead passengers on training flights and sightseeing tours. Students can also work with Learn To Fly San Diego to train for certification in occupations such as commercial pilot, certified flight instructor, and chauffeur for superheroes that can't really fly.
