Tacos, beer, and running. While not exactly a sacred triumvirate, these are all the ingredients necessary for a wildly festive Cinco de Mayo weekend, thanks to the aptly named Tacos & Beer 5K. The annual event celebrates Mexico's holiday with a festival of food and fitness. It all starts with the 5K, though that's only the tip of the proverbial cactus. Runners completing the course are rewarded with two tacos and a beer—not to mention a crafted medallion, t-shirts and a day packed with themed activities. Aside from the live music and ever-present cheering squads, racers can participate in a costume contest, ride a mechanical bull, or bash open a piñata filled with replenishing protein powder.
