Martha & Bros. Coffee Company: A User’s Guide
- Martha’s Blend: a combination of separately roasted Indonesian and Central American beans
- Sumatran Mandheling: their smoothest bean, creamy and flavorful
- Kona Pure: straight from Hawaii, with a mild acidity and sweet yet tangy aftertaste
About the Owners: Patricia Larizadeh doesn’t remember when she had her first sip of coffee. She and her siblings, including her sister Martha, spent their childhood on their uncle’s coffee plantation in Nicaragua, so when the two sisters migrated to California, they brought the coffee business with them. They began roasting their own beans for their own coffee shop, opening the first location of Martha & Bros. in 1987. Today, Martha, Patricia, and their brothers operate four cafés across San Francisco, including the original Noe Valley location.
Where to Sit: All four locations have cozy indoor seating, as well as benches and bistro tables outside.
Inside Tip: Each location offers a selection of sandwiches, breakfast pastries, and sweet treats if you’re looking for something to pair with your expertly crafted latte.
