The Santa Clara was fun this year. The strawberry and whipped cream funnel cakes were out of this world!!! Strolling mariachis were excellent. The large and small animals were all ribbon winners. You can get close to lots of animals, and actually touch animals in the petting zoo. They have teeny piglets and teeny goats that you can't resist. We go to the fair every year. Also Pleasanton and San Mateo.

You have to stand in line for your tickets not in a will call line and you can't go to the ticket booth with your groupon print out. You need actual tickets.

Keep cool by going in the a.m. and enjoy horsemanship and the VERY clean animal barns with the 4-H-ers showing and competing with their livestock. Then, the commercial side of the Fair begins at noon and the family can play all it wants. Need three hours with the animals and talking with the 4-H-ers with your kids. Don't miss the handcraft building in this time frame.

I haven't been to the Santa Clara County Fair in a few years since it was downsized. I used to go every year growing up and as an adult. However for me the highlights are the animals, exhibits, games and food. Was very happy to see the animals and the games were fun. Missed them not having the italian sausage sandwich, but the strawberry short cake was very good and had the linguica which was good too. I didn't see it, but heard the demolition derby was fun. All in all it was a fun time and am glad I went.

My husband, my son, my daughter, son-in-law, and I went to the County Fair on Saturday. It was the MOST FUN that we've had in a long time, and we look forward to attending next year! I intend to tell everyone what great family fun it was, and how important it is to support our community, BY ATTENDING THE FAIR!! Thanks so much for the wonderful memories!!

From Our Editors

Each year, the creative team behind Dead Time Dreams Attractions fills its disturbing setting with elaborate plots suitable for the silver screen. Far from sitting passively, audiences step into the scene beset by a cast of horrifying creatures. Before entering one of the immersive attractions, The Meat Factory or The Church, guests pass through the preshow Midway of Terror attraction. In the Meat Factory, terrornauts stumble through a maze of wending dead-ends festooned with meat hooks and body parts, behind which hungry creatures lurk. In the Church, visitors tour an apocalyptic wasteland populated by undead carnivores and toys that have a little bit of battery life in them.

San Jose Shopping Guide

San Jose is a city that takes its shopping seriously. There are shopping centers and several retail stores to help fill any shopping list or retail therapy session. San Jose shops are located throughout the city, but some of the best shopping is found at the malls in the city.

Start in the center of the city at the San Jose Market Center. This center is home to more than 100 stores selling everything from groceries to stylish clothing, shoes and toys. The market houses stores like Target, Trader Joe's and Marshalls. There are also many eateries, including Panera Bread and Panda Express. This San Jose mall has a central location that is easily accessed from anywhere in the city.

Santana Row is San Jose's high-end shopping center; it's located in the Villas area. This outdoor mall includes 70 upscale shops and 20 fine dining restaurants. There are also nine salons and day spas in the shopping center, and these can provide a bit of relaxation during a shopping trip. For entertainment, there's a movie theater.

North of Santana Row is the Westfield Valley Fair Mall. This upscale shopping mall includes more than 193 stores. From Hugo Boss and Armani Exchange to Justice and Pea in the Pod, there are stores to accommodate any shopper. If the variety of stores isn't enough, Westfield also provides a concierge service. It provides things like wheelchair and services for disabled shoppers, along with transportation and other assistance to mall patrons.

When looking for a place to find a great gift, look no further than the San Jose shops. They offer a wide variety of goods, indoor or outdoor shopping, and many other amenities to make the shopping experience a memorable one.
