From Our Editors
Lu Bellamak has spent two-thirds of her life forging a unique artistic process rooted in a desire for honest expression. Students are encouraged to paint their feelings and heed the wanderlust of the brush as it slips through oil and acrylics. A teacher of zen meditation and practitioner of gestalt therapy, Lu helps her pupils stow away their inhibitions as they tinker with abstract and expressionistic artwork and follow a process that involves recreating great works of art before beginning to design original work from scratch. Many former students continue to regularly show works in galleries or pretend they have a good reason for wearing a smock.
