Friendly and funny staff who care about the horses they take in.

Very nice people. The horses seemed well trained, the staff knew them well, and I felt comfortable. Some reviews said the place was run down, but I don't really know what they expect from a horse stable. It wasn't sparkling but it was like any other place I've ever been to that keeps large, domestic animals. Good experience overall, will be back!

The place wasn’t well taken care of including the horses. I’ve been riding a few times and it was the first time I’d been instructed to tip the guide. There are variations in how fast people ride but the one hour trail ride package lasted less than 45 minutes from the time I checked in until I got back in my car to leave. The guide said trails were closed due to the rain but the price was the same

I have talked to the owner and told her my family of 6 enjoyed the ride with it being the first time riding. But I was not happy that there was no Adult supervision there. Too many teenagers there. The guide was really good. But there were teenage boys there playing around one that was just hanging out with all of them and was shooting a rubber pellet gun toward where the horses are waiting for you to get on to ride. I had my 2 month granddaughter there in her stroller he was told by one of the girls to stop shooting. But he kept on shooting. Then one came right over my grandaughter's stroller too dangerous to be playing around. REALLY ??? The guide said they had one horse that was acting up that day but they still took her out on our visit and of course she kicked my son really bad and would not calm down so the guide changed out horses with that horse she was very sorry he got kicked. But why would take her out if she was already acting out? Owner stated my son had caused it probably when I called her. But guide knew he didn't. All of the horses looked like the needed to be brushed the had lots the things in their hair. Sorry about this report . But I did call the owner and let her know . This was on Sat 1/20/18 she stated she was gone to the bank. hat is why no adults were there. I didn't know banks were open on Sat afternoon.?

The place was not presentable at all. Very messy and cluttered. Spent most of the time stopping for a horse who wouldn’t cooperate.

Absolutely loved it. My daughter which is scared of everything and started to panic had a guy come up and walk right beside her the entire ride. We were able to then enjoy ourselves without worrying over her. My son(14& autistic) was nervous at first until he noticed our teenaged pretty guide.

Place is very run down, horses are not properly taken care of (they are very matted and full of poop), the trail is very muddy making it hard for the horses to walk and the reception lady was very rude. Never returning here!!

Where do I begin? The saddles were worn and dirty. The stables are kept in cruel conditions. All of our horses were dirty and their manes were filled with grass. The place was ran by a bunch of kids, literally. Other stables have 2 experienced guides with a large group but not them. We’ve done over a dozen horseback rides all over and this is the worst we’ve ever experienced. Stay away!!

From Our Editors

Barely able to walk on his own and many years away from becoming a reverend, a 3-year-old Jim Chambers rode a horse for the first time and was immediately enchanted. At 7, Chambers owned his own mare and paid for her necessities by selling rides for $0.15. Now, on his own ranch overlooking the tangled green of the Cherokee Valley, Chambers is still providing trail rides, campfire cookouts, and western horseback weddings. The Douglas Lakeview Stables crew leads trail rides every day, the Smoky Mountains cutting a rolling gray swath from the distant horizon. The adventures go on regardless of weather conditions, allowing riders to watch snowstorms unfurling over Lake Douglas or rain performing its natural role of ruining papier-mâché hats.
