This fitness, Jiu Jitsu and mixed martial arts coach is known to transform MMA and BJJ students into outstanding fighters with winning records. Under Professor Meleiro’s direction, LivJits specializes in self-defense classes for adults and anti-bullying training for kids and teens.

What's one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
“defense is just as important as offense.” Focus on drilling. Why? Because sparring as a beginning Jiu Jitsu student will simply train bad habits within you. Instead, focus on details, and drill slow in the beginning to help build core strength and base. Then, speed up your drilling over time.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Our boys! Naythan, Sonny and Wes. When they trained under Professor Marcelo we noticed an immense growth of confidence, strength and respect. They are the future! So, we decided to create our own Jiu Jitsu academy dedicated to Jiu Jitsu Anti-Bullying and living the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu lifestyle.

What do you love most about your job?
I love watching the transformations that take place in my students. It takes dedication to become an outstanding BJJ or MMA fighter. It’s so awesome to watch a young White Belt student transform and evolve into competitive fighter with my professional help. ~ Professor Marcelo Meleiro
