Started in the 1960s as a way to teach a few eager students better skills on the ice, the Bay State Skating School has expanded greatly since its opening, though its mission remains largely intact. Every year, the school hosts over 3,000 kids at 11 locations throughout greater Boston to foster their development as skaters while encouraging fun, too. At the first class, its professional instructors evaluate all students and group them by skill level. Continual re-evaluation means children move on to greater challenges as they gain more competence and confidence in the rink, ensuring they stay engaged no matter their age or level of experience.
