From Our Editors
At Groché Organic Farms, the Gronski family doesn't simply grow crops, they nurture the earth. The family eschews the modern, industrial-farming model. Rather than introducing exotic chemicals into the soil, they encourage growth with rock minerals and manage pests with natural cedar oil. To prevent soil erosion they rotate their crops. And to combat weeds, they use an innovative process known as "weeding."
The fruits—and vegetables—of their labor can be found in and around the Green Bay area, at farmers' markets, major supermarkets, and, of course, by visiting the farm. While you're there, make sure you check out their featured agritainment, including the 7.5-acre corn maze and harvest festival.
