Wait, wait, wait—what's a spiedie?
In their traditional form, spiedies (pronounced "SPEE-dee") are cubes of marinated chicken, beef, or pork that are char-grilled on skewers over an open flame and served on fresh bread. The dish is especially popular in parts of New York, where decades ago, Italian immigrants introduced it to the Triple Cities.
Who's serving?
Rick and Karen Swartwood, who moved from the Binghamton area of New York and made a shocking discovery: spiedies, and their hit jingle "How I'd Love To Eat A Spiedie," weren't well known in other parts of the U.S. So, along with their son, Tony, the couple began introducing the delicacy to the Tampa Bay area in 2013 by serving spiedies at farmer's markets and music festivals. Today, they continue introducing people to spiedies at their restaurant in Westchase.

Beyond traditional spiedies, The Great Spiedini plates up spiedie-topped salads and wings coated in spicy sauces. There's also a selection of Tampa Bay craft beers and wines, both of which can be enjoyed out on the full-service patio.
