When Katie and Braden Dernoshek decided to become entrepreneurs, they chose their new business's name carefully. They would be combining her experience as a barre instructor who worked in health care with his skills as a community pharmacist who had a penchant for preventive medicine, to create a place where people could escape from everyday stress and, at the same time, promote their own health and well-being. The result: Sanctuary Wellness Spa, a facility that brings holistic therapies to the South Hills.

There, clients benefit from a full-spectrum infrared sauna, with detoxifying effects ranging from a boost in metabolism to pain relief. They also get to experience halotherapy—salt therapy that soothes the skin and airways—in the privacy and comfort of a HaloBed.
