Mac N Out Macaroni & Cheese LLC, Bridgeport

Unsurprisingly, the idea for Mac-N-Out Macaroni & Cheese was born in a kitchen. Specifically, the kitchen of Kate Voll's parents. After spending an evening crafting creative versions of mac 'n' cheese with her three sisters in that kitchen, Kate decided to open her own restaurant centered around the popular dish. Read on to learn about a few of Mac-N-Out Macaroni & Cheese's original takes on the classic meal:

• Chili mac spring rolls: homemade chili and cheddar mac 'n' cheese inside crispy spring rolls
• Mac panini: fried mac 'n' cheese topped with tomato sauce and mozzarella on a panini
• Harbah mac: succulent lobster plus cheddar and gruyere cheese topped with crusted crackers and lemon butter
• Santa Fe mac: ground beef, black beans, cheddar cheese, salsa, and sour cream finished with crushed tortilla chips
• Buffalo mac: tender slices of fried chicken with cheddar and blue cheese, buffalo sauce, and celery
