Every Wednesday evening for ten weeks in summer, runners gather at Aloha Steakhouse for a 5K jog. During the timed event, they make their way en masse over Ventura's promenade, a course that offers sweeping ocean views and a flat surface for an easy stride. Afterward, when the race concludes where it began, participants recover at a happy hour at Aloha, where they can bask in the setting sun and a sense of accomplishment at finishing the run. Those who want more out of the experience can register for all ten 5Ks instead of just one, which enables the event series to contribute a greater amount to its beneficiary, the Buena High School cross country team.
