KNOW is a touring lecture series from four of the filmmakers at stillmotion, the Emmy-winning collective behind A Game of Honor and Old Skool Cafe. Justin, Patrick, Ray, and Amina lead all-day seminars that cover virtually every aspect of modern filmmaking, from conceptualizing a story to selecting the correct camera lenses to understanding the editing process. Besides feature-length documentaries, stillmotion’s portfolio includes commercial work, wedding shoots, and television miniseries, giving the artists a wealth of knowledge they use to help moviemakers in virtually any genre or field. Attendees may choose to attend just the filmmaking workshop or supplement it with a two-hour editing seminar, but everyone goes home with some combination of take-away materials, such as the filmmaking smartphone app SMAPP, the collective’s 370-page Field Guide to Filmmaking.
