We arrived early for the class, went down stairs and waited around with the other people who were gathered. They were all talking as if they were familiar with each other. We just looked at all the movie memorabilia that looked like poorly pixilated copies printed from the internet. Someone delivered a pizza and it was taken into a room off from the bar/club section down a hallway to the left. A few moments later a man asked if we were here for the class. I said that we were. He then asked if we had been there before. I said no, we were visiting from Mississippi. He made small talk and then went back into the room with the pizza. A moment or two later, he walked past everyone else who was in line (about 6 people) and said I'm really sorry guys but we're going to have to cancel the class. We've had unexpected problems with flooding or water damage. He said that it wasn't even safe to be in the room, much less conduct a class in it. This is the same room that he and some of the others were repeatedly walking in and out of. The same room the pizzas were in. I smiled and said that's fine. He said you should contact Groupon for a refund & that shouldn't be a problem. It's over a month later and I haven't been refunded yet. When we left the building, we stood outside for about 15 minutes trying to decide what we'd do because we suddenly had 2 free hours to kill. I never noticed anyone else leaving. So I imagine that the class was cancelled just for us. Maybe there really was damage. Maybe it's because we are black. Maybe it's because we are gay. I don't know. I just know that my boyfriend had always wanted to do an improv class and we don't have anything like that in our area so I was really excited about giving him that experience. Thankfully, I did have a great Groupon experience with another company. The ladies at Team Wellness & Massage Center in North Bergen, NJ were professional and provided excellent customer service. I am however very disappointed with 8 Improv.
