Without a doubt the worst carting experience I have ever had and it was completely due to staff's unwillingness to do their jobs. They had a blatant disregard for their own rules and the safety of their operation while arbitrarily ruling with an iron fist regarding other specific rules, at the cost of the racing experience. They refused to blue flag slower drivers which encouraged more dangerous passing than was necessary, this led to more contact between cars and walls with the more inexperienced drivers. This issue was brought up with management early in the afternoon by several people and the response was simply "we don't use blue flags." Upon returning to the track I noticed that the track workers were not even equipped with blue flags. When the lack of blue flags led to accidents and spins they did not bother to use caution flags because during many runs the track workers were all standing in a circle in the pits talking rather than manning their positions. The only time they would leave the pits was when they would run across the active track (repeatedly) to black flag drivers for spinning which is the only rule they enforced. Throughout the afternoon the repeated contact with the tires released water onto the track which made it extremely difficult to not spin on certain corners. Spinning is a normal race occurrence and at other karting tracks the race workers would analyze if the driver was being overzealous or if it was just a standard racing incident and if the driver hadn't done anything wildly dangerous they would just yellow flag and then point you back in the right direction. At SPK they simply black flagged you for a stop and go penalty and then the 2nd offence is removal from the session regardless of the circumstances because "the rules are the rules" (except when the employees decide they don't feel like working hard enough to follow them). I was fortunate enough to only spin once, which was due to the standing water and I was not removed from any of my sessions, although I did get black flagged once for "using my brakes too hard." The result of their horrible management is that I never had a single lap that wasn't greatly impeded by other drivers. It felt more like they were running a pony-ride at a kiddy kart place instead of a business that advertises actual time trials and racing. Their mandatory instructional video explains all of the flags and then they flat out refuse to use them because "it confuses the newer drivers." If that is the case then how do other kart tracks manage to make it work and furthermore, how can new drivers learn if their only experience is at a place that determines that safe and organized racing is too much of a burden on their employees? This is not a safe operation, they value their smoke-and-joke time more than the safety of their customers and I would not recommend it to anyone.

This is the least safe karting track I've ever been to. They are inconsistent with flags and allow paying customers to race on wet tracks despite severe spinning out occurrences. The "safety" video with rules were not obided by the staff. Terrible.

Keeping in mind that this is an outdoor karting facility, I would pay special attention to the weather forecast. I went last weekend (November 15th) and was warned that it would be absolutely freezing. I wore multiple layers/brought gloves, but it was still worse than I anticipated. By the halfway point of my first run, I had lost all feeling in my fingertips. It was a lot of fun though!
