What You'll Get
Caring for your body is a task that knows no end, much like counting all the stars in the night sky or shaving Mount Rushmore. Attend to your anatomy and protect your health with today's Groupon: for $55, you get a 90-minute traditional Thai massage at Alvino Massage on Washington Street (a $110 value).
Alvino Massage specializes in traditional Thai massage, an invigorating methodology that fuses yoga, shiatsu, and acupressure in an effort to improve relaxation, circulation, and flexibility. During the 90-minute session, Thailand-trained massage therapist Dan Vigil uses experienced hands and a fishing pole baited with seven dollars to physically guide the muscles into rejuvenating yoga-like positions on a floor mat. Connective tissue unknots itself under the unhurried, flowing compressions along the body's energy lines, and the guided, full-body stretches open joints and increase blood flow. Unlike traditional massages, clients—be they athletes, seniors, expectant mothers, or their body doubles—remain fully clothed, and no lotions or oil are applied to the skin.
Along with Thai massage, Alvino Massage also boasts other therapeutic techniques such as Swedish and hot-stone massage. The cozy, homey studio puts serenity-seekers at ease, with squishy couches, Zen symbols painted on the walls, and a tiny diorama of each clients' childhood bedroom.

About Alvino Massage
Dan Vigil began his professional life in the corporate world, maintaining a nine-to-five lifestyle until he realized that he wanted to have a more direct impact on others. And so he delved into the healing art of massage therapy and opened Alvino Massage in 2008. Despite his skilled hands, he claims his most valued gift is his ability to listen, which he uses to consult with clients about their ailments and interpret the whispers of seashells. He untangles striations with several modalities, including hot stone, Swedish, and Thai, which he trained for in Thailand. On his website, Dan publishes regular newsletters about the benefits of massage.
