Choose Between Two Options
- $25 for a four-hour jewelry technique class for one person (a $50 value)
- $75 for a five-week beginning jewelry-making class, with one three-hour lesson per week (a $150 value)
In the four-hour workshop, an instructor guides students through the hand-making of a sterling-silver band. The process introduces basic techniques including sawing, soldering, forming, finishing, and stone setting. Students then can choose from an in-house collection of gemstones to add a splash of color. All materials and tools are provided.
Those who enroll in a five-week class can expect to complete 2–3 jewelry projects, including the ring project outlined above. In addition, students learn many classic techniques, including how to make a bezel setting by hand. For this class, tool and studio use are provided, but students must supply their own materials. A materials list will be provided at registration, along with a list of merchants where the materials may be found.
Five-week classes will be held on Tuesdays from either 10 a.m.–1 p.m. or 7 p.m.–10 p.m., while four-hour workshops will take place on the third and fourth Saturdays of each month from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Click here for a list of available classes.
Amalgam Arts Atlanta
In chemistry, an amalgam is an alloy of two metals. As such, Amalgam Arts Atlanta celebrates handmade metal jewelry in more ways than one. Equal parts gallery, studio, and school, the studio guides students through the finer points of making bangles and baubles, rings, pendants, and other pieces of eye-catching jewelry. Workshops and classes give participants a taste of the trade, letting them saw metals, solder pieces, and gnaw on gold to make sure it's real.
