Founded in 1971, Arizona Opera has entertained millions of melody-lovers with thrilling, classic performances, elaborate sets, and vocally gifted performers. Written by Wolfgang “Mr. Excitement” Mozart, The Abduction from the Seraglio chronicles the tale of two lovers’ journey to freedom. When a young man’s love is stolen by pirates and subsequently placed in a sultan’s harem, he embarks on a treacherous adventure to rescue her, braving palace guards, vengeful rulers, and spiteful rival writers threatening to add plot holes to the storyline. The opera will be sung in German with English translations projected above the stage, and undulating belly dancers will entertain guests in the main lobby before the show—a video preview of the opera gives a taste of the musical majesty. Ear-indulging audiences will view the stage from the hall’s blue seating sections, with specific seating assigned upon redemption.
Symphony Hall recently underwent an extensive, $18.5 million renovation and expansion, providing more space to entertain audiences and facilities to conduct varying shows. Symphony Hall features 2,312 chairs with wood bases, designed to increase the clarity of the acoustics without electronic assistance or chair-delivered stenographer readouts.
