Arkansas Extended Learning Center's fall and winter class schedule packs craniums of all ages with new hobbies, art techniques, and practical skills. Students learn replicable recipes and essential kitchen skills in BYOB cooking classes, including a two-hour Knife Skills tutorial ($49) and a two-hour grilling workshop ($54), which teaches tyros how grill marks denote a chicken's gang affiliation. Wayward hobbyists can pick up portrait photography ($79 for a four-hour workshop), beginning sewing ($109 for three 180-minute classes), or home repair 101 ($129 for a three-hour workshop), among a variety of other topics. For younger learners, ACT prep courses help teens hone test-taking skills ($475 for seven two-hour sessions and a practice test), and child surrealists can sketch endless stairs in a day of K-5 arts camps ($49/day).
