The restaurant may be named Baba Ghanouj, but what you'll really want to order is the shawarma. The dish, which comes in chicken and beef versions, is easily the spot's most popular. The falafel plate is well-liked, too, served with a generous spread of hummus, salad, tahini sauce, and pita. Formerly a Greek-American eatery, Baba Ghanouj has held on to a few of the old standbys—including gyros and Greek fries—while introducing Middle Eastern specialties. Chicken tawook, for example, showcases chicken breast marinated in spices and yogurt, and Egyptian koshari is a vegetarian blend of rice, noodles, lentils, onions, and chickpeas in garlic sauce.
