While diners can sometimes find fine cuisine in a casual atmosphere, it's rarer to find casual fare in a high-class setting—with the exception of taco night at Buckingham Palace. Eat upscale fare without having to pay homage to the queen with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of upscale cuisine at Barker Tavern, located in Scituate. This Groupon is not valid for alcohol.

Overlooking the Scituate Harbor, the family-owned Barker Tavern composes a menu of upscale fare in a 17th-century historical building that exudes a casual elegance. Start by nibbling on the baked clams casino starter, sprinkled with seasoned crumbs, butter, bacon, and pit bosses ($10), or delight in a Mediterranean amalgamation of hummus, tzatziki, and eggplant caviar complemented with warm pita bread ($7). The signature center-cut swordfish comes broiled, Cajun, or grilled ($30), while the freshly caught local lobster comes swimming in a sea of drawn butter ($38). Carnivorous chompers can chow down on a grilled rack of lamb frosted with fig-chipotle barbecue sauce and coupled with a navy bean, sun dried tomato, and goat cheese cassoulet ($29).

Barker's New England dining room radiates sophistication, sporting exposed wooden beams, lantern-like light fixtures, alabaster linens, and a forest of green floor-wear. The room easily serves at wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, and bridal showers, where the working colonial fireplace warms wintry toes and melts repeat gifts of Oprah ice statues.
