Welcome to Groupon, Columbia! For our inaugural deal, $4 for a bagel meal at B&B Bagel Company. Since this is everyone's first Groupon, allow us to briefly explain how it works.
How Groupon Works
Groupon is a combination of the words group and coupon. Each day, we offer an unbeatable deal on the best of Columbia: restaurants, spas, sporting events, theater, and more. By promising businesses a minimum number of customers, we get discounts you won't find anywhere else. We call it "collective buying power."
If you want to get the deal, just click BUY before the offer ends at midnight. If the minimum number of people (15 for today's deal) sign up by the end of the day, you'll be emailed a gift certificate the next morning. You can print your Groupons, or redeem them with our mobile app. Use them whenever you want until the deal expires—today's expires in 6 months. If not enough people join, no one gets the deal (and you won't be charged), so invite your friends to make sure you get the discount!
The bagel is named for a popular dog breed, the beagle, which frequently removes the center of dinner buns in search of their inner squeakers. Sink canines into squeaker-free eats with today's Groupon: for $4, you get a bagel sandwich, a cookie, chips, and a soda at B&B Bagel Company (up to an $8.67 value). B&B Bagel deftly elevates lowly flour, baking and boiling doughy disks and framing deli favorites between chewy rolls with holes. Savory strata are layered with flavorful fillings, including chicken salad and smoked ham. Sample the signature B&B Special, which sports swiss cheese, turkey, bacon, lettuce, and tomato atop your choice of bagel—a tastier stacking than a sandwich of equally colorful Lincoln logs. Early birds may purse their beaks on a round Egg'wich with sausage before greeting the day or bidding adieu to the night.
B&B Bagel's name refers to the traditional process of making a bagel: boiling and baking. Whereas many places skip the boiling step, B&B considers it crucial ("If it's not boiled, it's not a bagel," their website states definitively).
It's hard to argue with the results. Any of the shop's classic bagels can be topped with flavored cream cheeses or breakfast meats; there's even a pizza bagel that comes with melted cheese and pepperonis. Of course, bagels aren't the only items on the menu. The shop also serves cinnamon rolls and traditional sandwiches, neither of which are boiled.
