Locally sourced cheese is always preferable to moon cheese, which was found to have dangerously high levels of Buzz Aldrin's brain waves. Enjoy a fresh, earthbound meal with today's Groupon: for $7, you get $15 worth of fresh, locally sourced fare and drinks at bread&cup on Eighth Street. The restaurant is open every day except Sunday.
bread&cup is a European-influenced eatery that serves up made-from-scratch plates of simple, elegant cuisine in a warm and inviting environment. The restaurant's cozy morning staples include spiced oatmeal crowned with sunflower nuts, brown sugar, cream, caramel, and apple butter ($4), and savory open-faced biscuits with sausage and gravy ($6). The everyday lunch menu sports equally comforting homestyle edibles, namely hearty sandwiches on house-made bread ($4–$7.50), homemade soup ($3–$4), and more. Try a roast beef bundle ($7.50) on ciabatta bread if you need a boost of energy to make it through the afternoon, or slide to the other end of the meat spectrum with a vegetarian sandwich ($6.50) of hummus, roasted squash, carrots, onions, and lettuce. Because bread&cup tries to use seasonal ingredients that are sourced from local farms whenever possible, customers are rarely faced with plates of summer squash with frostbite or snow peas with suntans.
Like your feelings for Derek, bread&cup’s dinner offerings change four times a week, so check the main page for details or call ahead for current menu options. Peruse the restaurant's website to learn more about the time-honored cooking practices and natural processes employed in the bread&cup kitchen, all of which contribute to the healthy, hearty, and carefree lifestyle of its comestibles.
- Great restaurant with wonderful, fresh food! I like that fact that they try to use as many local ingredients as possible. The specials at dinner are very delicious and creative. – connie002, TripAdvisor
- This is an absolutely fabulous cafe. Artisan is great descriptor here. It uses locally grown products to produce a menu of sandwiches, fresh salads and soups, appetizers, and dinner specials. They even had a booth at the Haymarket farmer's market. All this to go along with a good wine list, an amazing atmosphere, and a great location. – Jim B., Yelp
