What You'll Get
Growling stomachs can hamper stealth operations, spoil belly dances, and, in extreme cases, induce dogs to attack. Quiet whimpering tummy tones with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of American and Mediterranean fare at Cafe Taraiz, in Pearland.
A pamperer of Pearland palates for more than 25 years, Cafe Taraiz serves up a menu of delectable dishes drawn from the American heartland and the shores of the Mediterranean. Rampaging appetites can be subdued with starters such as hummus ($4.95), falafel balls (four for $5.95), and grape leaves stuffed with rice and beef (six for $4.95). The popular chicken caesar salad cures taste-bud ennui with a toothsome combination of grilled poultry, croutons, parmesan cheese, lettuce, caesar dressing, and garlic bread ($10). Ten-ounce burgers come in beef ($10), lamb ($12), and turkey ($8.95) varieties, allowing carnivores of all stripes to sate their patty cravings with a single selection or order all three for a delectable tour of the animal kingdom's edible delights. Kebabs are skewered with a choice of beef, chicken, kafta, lamb, or shrimp and served slumbering in a bed of rice with a side of hummus or salad ($11.25–$20). Like a paranoid neighbor's pesky security-system password, the selection of homemade desserts changes daily, and Cafe Taraiz allows diners to bring along a favorite bottle of wine for a $2.50 corkage fee at dinner.
Three Yelpers give Cafe Taraiz an average rating of 4.5 stars:
- EVERYTHING is ALWAYS fresh made to order. The main thing I could advise is to get a sampler platter some of the Mediterranean food and just TRY IT. You will like it. – Jeff H., 1/15/11
