A tortilla makes a handy mouse pad, an acceptable patch for stiff denim jeans, and, if you draw a face on it, an ideal companion on fishing trips. But there are many other uses for it, as today's Groupon proves: for $5, you get $10 worth of Mexican fare at Caliente's Burrito Shop on Zebulon Road.
Wielding an array of fresh ingredients, Caliente's rolls out generously stuffed California-style burritos under the watchful eyes of its hungry customers. Each bean bundle comes with a choice of flour, wheat, or spinach tortillas; steak, chicken, or ground beef; and black or pinto beans. Train your taste buds for a tussle with The Thrilla from the Grilla, a pugilistic package of meat, rice, beans, and cheese seared to crispy greatness on the grill ($6.25). Or help your date overlook your own slovenly habits by juxtaposing them with the Seriously Sloppy nachos, a multilayered mass of tortilla chips, cheese dip, meat, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, and chipotle-ranch dressing ($6.50).
Diners will find no lard, animal fat, microwaves, freezers, or animatronic sous chefs at Caliente's. Rather, skilled burristas make each dish to order, with fresh, trimmed meats, crispy vegetables, and 100% vegetarian beans.
Five TripAdvisors dub Caliente’s #2 of 56 restaurants in Macon and give it an average of 4.5 owl eyes:
- Our entire family loves Caliente's. The food is so fresh and tasty, the prices are VERY affordable, the place is very clean, and the staff is so helpful. – SilverSpoon31210
- The food is great, the selection is great, and they don't nickel-and-dime you on things like tortilla chips, salsa, etc. (They always have 4-5 varieties of homemade salsa to try for FREE!) – maconbabu
