TAKE A CLASS! It doesn't matter if you know nothing at all, know a little, self taught, or a pro - you are going to learn something! They are awesome instructors, the studio is an amazing place to be, the coffee bar is delicious, and you can ask any question without feeling dumb and expect an honest answer back! They are definitely a contact you want to have for all of your photography needs! I certainly appreciate them!

What You'll Get

Sitting for a photo was once a long and arduous process, as evidenced by the unkempt facial hair grown by our earliest presidents during their portrait sessions. Capture a clean image with this Groupon.

Choose from Three Options

  • $47 for a Photo I or Photo II workshop (a $95 value)
  • $95 for a Photo I and Photo II workshop (a $190 value)
  • $79 for an Adobe Photoshop I workshop (a $175 value)<p>

Students needn’t have any previous experience to enter the Photo I workshop, which covers the fundamentals of snapping with both film and digital cameras. Important topics include focus depth, metering, learning to say “cheese” in multiple languages, and stop-and-show action. After completing Photo I, pupils may leap into Photo II seminars, where a deeper exploration of the craft features a rundown of lens perspectives and filters, as well as flash work and instruction on camera equipment and proper film and print storage. The Adobe Photoshop I class introduces students to basic tools and photo-editing concepts, such as monitor calibration, color correction, portrait retouching, and media storage. Students learn how to navigate programs such as Photoshop Elements, Photoshop CS3 - CS6, and Lightroom.

Photo I, Photo II, and Adobe Photoshop I workshops run every four–six weeks and include two sessions on consecutive nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.<p>

About Cole/Marr Photography Workshops

In 1975, photographers Kristen Cole and David Marr founded their eponymous workshops in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, with only a darkroom, some developing equipment, and a classroom that could barely hold five students and a small grizzly bear. After 20 years of educating New Englanders, the talented duo relocated its expanding school to Boise to impart the duo's commercial and artistic expertise to students in the Treasure Valley. Cole/Marr Photography Workshops now illuminates the art of image capture in Boise's renovated Cultural Center, which houses the school's three darkrooms, studio and framing areas, digital workstations, and a photo library. Open to new framers and advanced snappers alike, the workshops' curriculums span fundamentals of both traditional and digital photography, with seminars on topics such as the darkroom process, Photoshop editing, and portraiture. Pupil and instructor galleries inspire with beautiful shots, many taken during photo safaris led by Cole and Marr to destinations as diverse as the contents of a communal diary.
