Daily Melt's cooks elevate the humble grilled cheese sandwich to a high art. They start off mornings with hearty maple-bacon melts, which hold bacon and egg together with melted cheddar, maple syrup, and two slices of sourdough bread. They pack entire meals between slices of bread with lunch sandwiches such as the Italiano: a combination of pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, and tomato sauce on homemade garlic bread. Such a dish doesn't need much in the way of sides, but they nevertheless offer seven varieties of pickles and at least one kind of napkin to pair with any sandwich. They even make dessert melts, should one save some room. The crispy banana Nutella melt, for instance, adds fontina cheese and cinnamon to its two principle ingredients, placed in the embrace of still-warm french toast.
