What You'll Get
Legendary entertainers Kenan and Kel made theatrical history when they broke down the fourth wall, and then, to the consternation of the set designer, broke down the second and third walls as well. Experience the magic of the stage with today's Groupon to The Dinner Detective. Choose between the following options:
For $50, you get one VIP admission to The Dinner Detective interactive murder-mystery dinner show (a $100 value).
For $230, you get two VIP show admissions, a one-night stay in a two-room hotel suite at the Embassy Suites Denver, and a bottle of wine to enjoy during the show (up to a $540 value).
Put your detective skills and Jessica Fletcher tendencies to good use during The Dinner Detective, a murder mystery unfolding throughout four scrumptious dinner courses. Performances are interactive, meaning the cracking of each case relies on the participation of audience members. A troupe of professional actors pose as average patrons in the audience, causing even the most instinctually astute diners to throw around false accusations, make citizen's arrests, and suspect their tablemates. During the show, gourmet appetizers stoke sleuthing skills, followed by a mixed-green salad to cleanse the palate before diving into a choice of entree. The menu proudly accommodates diners of diverse dietary persuasions, including carnivore-pleasing london broil with roasted-garlic mashed potatoes, ginger salmon with wild-pecan rice, and vegetarian-friendly tuscan penne pasta, which can be made vegan upon request. Shows take place every Saturday at 6:30 p.m., and doors open at 6:15 p.m. Reservations are based on availability, so call in advance to book. Business or casual dress is required, and participants must be at least 10 years old.
After the show, VIP guests can nab a souvenir aluminum water bottle and a picture with the show's detectives, before resting their case with a two-person stay at the Embassy Suites Denver. Experience the comfort of a two-room suite, featuring a kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator, a 27-inch television with premium channels, and pillow chocolates in the shape of lesser-known Clue weapons. Complimentary breakfast and cocktails are included, ensuring guests leave well-fueled and ready to use their newly acquired crime-solving skills to reopen long cold cases, such as "who shot J.R?" and "Where have all the cowboys gone?"
Though there is a discounted room rate with the show, this Groupon is still the best value.
- The acting was spectacular. Although they follow a general storyline, they definitely improvise and include the audience. Several times I saw diners from the restaurant poking their head into our dining room to see what all the commotion was about. Also, the drinks were good, and I enjoyed the apps. – Laura L., Yelp, 9/20/09
- This is Not your typical or cheesy murder mystery we laughed SO hard we didn't even realize one of the actors was sitting at our table! The acting was great, the food was great, we had so much fun we can't wait to go back with a large group of friends. – 5280KL, CityVoter
