On Saturday, September 28, participants cross 5 kilometers of muddy, obstacle-laden terrain. Hardy athletes can choose to do the 9 a.m. military-style Elite Heat, which also includes pushups, sit-ups, pull-ups, and a 50-foot swim. The 10 a.m. heat sends all other runners through the obstacle race.
A post-race party includes a pig roast and beer, as well as activities such as log splitting and a two-man saw-cutting challenge. Each participant receives a large beer, a Dirt Runner T-shirt, and a finisher medal. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation.
Dirt Runner races don't just challenge athletes—they push them to their limits. Set on rough terrain with a more than 1,200-foot change in elevation, the roughly 5K course is rife with agility and strength-testing obstacles. Those range from complex military-style structures to towering fences that require scaling. After completing the course, participants unwind at post-race festivities with food and music.
