The Italian cuisine at Dopo, which has been open since 2003, has always had a distinctly Sicilian flavor. Chef-owner Jon Smulewitz grew up cooking with his Sicilian grandmother, and he travels to the Mediterranean isle every year to further explore its food and wine culture. So it's natural that this cozy trattoria transitioned to an exclusively Silician menu in 2015.
And the artisanal dishes are as varied and vibrant as life on the island itself. The selection of hot and cold antipasti changes daily to reflect available ingredients. Later courses may feature Palermo-style lasagna, seafood ravioli in the style of Catania's Osteria Antica Marina, and chicken-pancetta meatballs inspired by mighty Mount Etna. And Dopo does not neglect Sicilian-style pizza, whose thicker crust is charred in the open kitchen's oven. Diners can sip one of the well-curated Sicilian wines while watching the chefs at work from the blue-tiled bar.
