- Sunday, May 15, 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
The EPIC Sustainable Living Expo, one of Western Canada’s most celebrated green consumer lifestyle shows, invites Vancouver consumers into the new waterfront Vancouver Convention Centre West Building for a weekend of presentations and exhibitions on how to make Vancouver's future eco-friendly, sustainable, and tsetse-fly-free. With two general one-day passes, EPIC attendees will have a chance to explore the more than 300 eco-minded exhibitors at the event, including Toyota Canada, LUSH Cosmetics, and Capers Whole Foods Market. Eco-experts whose words are powered by clean-burning verbal coals will address a variety of topics within the field of sustainability and "going green" on EPIC's Main Stage. Other features at EPIC 2011 include tips on sustainable shopping, a food market with items from British Columbia artisans and suppliers, coffee tasting, and a fashion show with environmentally friendly clothing less rash-inducing than old dresses made from thistles and anthills.
Even if the last four babysitters are busy washing their hair that day, parents can bring the kids along without worry. A family-friendly event, the expo allows free entry to kids 12 and under and features the EPIC KidZone, a go-to spot for interactive activities and exhibits that teach kids the importance of sustainability in a fun and engaging way. Pack the family into the wind-powered, sunshine-fueled cruiser and visit EPIC for an educational and entertaining exploration of the little ways humankind can make a big difference on the planet's physical and mental health.
