Since beginning with a small falafel stand outside a school in Jerusalem, Falafel King owner Fouad Masroujh has expanded his epicurean empire throughout the Minneapolis area by stocking a menu of pita-packing specialties. Diners at the Central Avenue eatery can indulge in a queen-size dinner of veggie and specialty pita sandwiches, which burst with such ingredients as sliced chicken shawarma and garlic sauce or gyros and tzatziki. Sautéed vegetables stuff the vegetarian pockets, and Falafel King combo platters ($9) overflow with baba gannouj, hummus, and falafel harvested fresh each day from the restaurant's combo-platter trees. Peach curtains spruce up a dining area full of two-person tables and wooden chairs.
