Hop aboard a high-speed, rigid inflatable boat to journey the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area with Flagship Adventures. Flagship's expert tour guides pepper the 90-minute adventure with interesting Boston Harbor factoids and their favorite porterhouse marinade recipes. Board ship at 200 Seaport Blvd. and venture through Boston Harbor, passing many national recreation area islands and peninsulas during your journey.
Flagship's boat tours get you unobstructed views of miles of shoreline, natural beaches, wildlife, and sights, including the Boston Light (America's oldest lighthouse on Little Brewster Island) and the historic Fort Warren (Civil War training ground, prison, and video arcade on George's Island).
Whether you're a Boston local or in town for the 2009 Paul Revere Puppy Parade and Chili Cookout, check out Boston's unique, exhilarating sea-sights. Tours operate until September 26 this year; if you don't get a chance to get out on the water this year, your Groupon is good through the 2010 boating season as well.
Note: This deal permits one adult to board the ship, normally $35. If you're looking to bring the whole crew, this $20 Groupon is still a deal for seniors (who normally pay $30) and children ($25).
There aren't many online reviews of Flagship Adventures' rigid inflatable boat tours, but the high-speed boat experts have 138 fans on Facebook and several testimonials on its website. Here's why one Yelper gives the boat rides a perfect five stars:
- We had such a blast!..super fast fun boats. You have to hold on for the wild ride. – Gigi L.
Profiles in Courage: Lightning and Chance
While on your tour, keep your eyes peeled for the implementers of renegade harbor justice: former Navy SEALS Spence "Lightning" Wilson and Stu "Chance" Eduardo. These guys have a lot on their plate. Not only are they running pulse-pounding tours on the water and raising an orphaned teen, Jessica, but they're also using their high-speed RocketBoat for its original purpose—to fight crime.
Lightning and Chance use the same high-speed maneuvers found on their harbor tours to stop drug smugglers, aqua gangs, and other sea-faring criminals who frequent the harbor. While Lightning pilots the RocketBoat, Chance plays high-energy rock music on his electric guitar to underscore the action. The armored RocketBoat, with its military-designed biodiesel engines, is enough to stop any water-based criminal. In Boston Harbor, crime's got only a "Lightning Chance" of outrunning these former SEALS!
