Flying is a lot like having a staring contest: even with utter concentration, you’ll never be better at it than birds. Go toe-to-beak with our winged companions with today's Groupon: for $135, you get a tandem powered paragliding Discovery flight with ariel views of Superstition Mountains from Fly High Paragliding (a $225 value).
Fly High Paragliding's USHPA-certified instructors take their passengers on altitudinous adventures across the eye-catching landscapes of Arizona during powered paragliding discovery flights. Pilot and pupil strap themselves into harnesses attached to a wide paragliding canopy and motor, which provides the apparatus lift so paragliders don’t have to rely on fickle gusts or flocks of charitable geese. The pair then swoop through the air at speeds of 15–45 mph and altitudes of up to 2500 feet. Free from responsibility, passengers take in the airborne sights of the Superstition Mountains, whose sheer cliff faces resemble a series of black cats walking under a ladder. Among the visible landmarks is the Weaver's Needle, a 1,000-foot-high rock column that is said to be the key to finding the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine.
