What You'll Do
The rising image resolutions and plummeting prices of digital cameras have made it easier than ever to snap glossy photos. That very ease, however, has spurred many photographers to seek ways to give their pictures a gritty, lo-fi look, using such old-fashioned tools as toy and pinhole cameras. With professional photographer Jen Cleary, you'll roam the back alleys and side streets of Chinatown, learning how to imbue your urban photography with a gritty aesthetic and lo-fi realism using your own camera or a $10 model rented onsite.

Though she spent years working as a lighting technician, designer, and director, Jen Cleary didn't know what she wanted to do with the rest of her life—until she turned down joining her friend's bridal party. Asked to photograph the wedding, she immediately fell in love with the artistic opportunities of photography. Since that day, she has assiduously honed her craft, photographing weddings, portraits, and landscapes in Philadelphia and beyond.
