What You’ll Do
The colors of Italy’s flag, known as “Il Tricolore,” don’t have anything to do with food; they represent the merging of three regional governments. However, it wouldn’t be a stretch to associate the country’s national colors with the red of marinara, the white of cream sauce, and the green of pesto. In Chef Leigh Bennett’s “Pasta! Pasta! Pasta!” class, students learn to perfect the classic trio of sauces, setting the stage for many delicious plates to come.
Learn how to create three distinctive Italian sauces, as well as how to incorporate them into everyday dishes.
Fill the Rest of the Plate
Follow the instructor’s lead as you make garlic bread and a tuscan dinner salad with red wine vinaigrette.
Keep Cooking at Home
Bennett sends participants home with recipes for all the dishes prepared in class, as well as leftovers, if there are any.
Chef, Owner of Dinner is Served
Leigh Bennet’s culinary skills run in the family. A third-generation chef, she followed in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother before her, strengthening her stirring arm by cooking alongside them as a child. While her career started in her family’s New York restaurant, Favilla’s Ristorante, her passion for cooking has taken her around the globe, with stops in the kitchens of Italy, France, Spain, Brussels, Portugal, and finally Los Angeles. Now, as the owner of Dinner is Served, a personal chef service and catering boutique, Bennett creates gourmet meals for clients while still finding the time to share her knowledge with students.
