What You’ll Do
With more than just words, you can transform paper from a smooth, flat sheet to an enchanting piece of whimsy. During this workshop, book artist Melanie Brauner leads you, one fold at a time, through the process of creating pop-up Easter cards and small toys using handmade artisanal paper and high-quality supplies from Paper Hammer’s stock.
Cards That Pop
Under Brauner’s watchful eye, work with handmade paper and tools to create delicate pop-up holiday cards and paper toys.
Look Around for Inspiration
Paper Hammer’s aisles are filled with handmade books, letterpress printed artwork, and other wholly individual goods.
Create at Home
Each student heads home with their handmade cards and toys, and instructions needed to continue creating at home.
After learning the craft of bookbinding with an apprenticeship more than a decade ago, Melanie Brauner opened her own bindery specializing in fine binding and book restoration. To further sharpen her skills, she later received her BFA in Book Arts from Oregon College of Art and Craft. Now as a part of Paper Hammer and Marquand Books, she designs books, serves as a production consultant, and helps other artists bring their visions to life.
