The Staten Island Comedy Festival assembles a lineup of local and national comedic talents for a week of laughs that benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation and other select charities. On Friday, April 20, John Mulrooney headlines with material honed during time spent as a TV host, as a radio personality, and appearing on HBO and Comedy Central. Mark Demayo from Showtime’s White Boyz in The Hood also appears, as does the current Miss Staten Island, Jamie Lynn Macchia, as an event ambassador. The evening smoothly slides from one performer to the next with the deft hosting of Tracy Rosenberg, an entertainer and former New York City schoolteacher who corrals rowdy crowds with the threat of a pop quiz.

The seven-day laugh fest comes to a close on Saturday, April 21. For the grand finale, festival organizers have locked up the closing ceremony’s all-star lineup, revealing only that the evening is to benefit the Staten Island University Hospice and that the performances’ laughs will be recycled to help unfunny sitcoms.
