Although it’s been ostracized by the five traditional senses, the sense of humor is the only thing that enables human beings to detect a rubber chicken creeping up from behind. Stay on guard with today’s GrouponLive deal: for $15, you get two tickets to a Friday or Saturday show or four tickets to a Wednesday, Thursday, or Sunday show at Ventura Harbor Comedy Club (up to a $60 value). Attendees must be 21 or older. Today’s deal is not valid for special events.

Owned by veteran jokesters Andy Fernandez and Randy Lubas, who’ve summoned laughs on Comedy Central and in front of troops serving in Iraq, Ventura Harbor Comedy Club teases giggles from gullets five nights a week at its scenic bayside home. An array of national chortle-hunters dots the club’s calendar and draws mustaches on the driver’s licenses of unsuspecting patrons. On Friday, January 6, and Saturday, January 7, actor and comedian Steve White, seen on HBO, Comedy Central, and in films such as Coming to America, regales crowds with his rapid-fire punch lines and hearty delivery. Thursday, January 12, LOGO TV sees comedienne Jennie McNulty hosting Rainbow Comedy Night for LGBT-friendly laughs, and January 13–15 brings the shared guffaws of the charismatic and chronically jilted Tracy Smith. Ladies and relapsed Mrs. Doubtfires can enjoy a girls' night out on Thursday, January 19, which features an all-female lineup of comediennes and free cuisine from Savory Cafe.

Unlike an exclusive interview with a pet turtle, the club’s January 26 TV taping, hosted by comedian Brian Sheil, will feature broadcast-ready jokes free of frightened retreats into protective shells. Seating in the theater is unassigned, and a two-beverage minimum allows patrons to quash thirst in both sides of their mouths ($4.75 for domestic beer, $6 for well drinks, and $5.75 for draft beer; cost not included in this Groupon).

Great night out. Fun for all. Hilarious comics.

Great shows ... Highly recommended. I go at least 2x per month.

Thought most of the talent Saturday night was good. Better than the last time I was there. Only 1 guy who fortunately wasn't on too long was a bit of a mystery to me. Not much laughter there. Also the last guy who was good seemed a bit aggressive with some of the guests and didn't quite see the need for that. I love good clean humor. Don't love when they make fun of people, but I know that's something a lot of comics do. Overall though we really had a great time and I would definitely go back again.
