Gorge Blues and Brews Festival
At Skamania County Fairgrounds—smack dab in the gorgeous scenic sweetspot of the Gorge where revelers are flanked by mountains and the Columbia River—the Gorge Blues and Brews Festival returns for another year of 12-bar melodies and five-star suds. Across two stages, seven or more local and national acts (some soon to be announced) lay down soothing and stomping blues soundtracks, while local breweries unleash their latest liquid cures for the summertime blues. Here's a little taste of what to expect:
- The Brews: craft beers, wines, and ciders from local brewers such as Logsdon Farm Brewery, 50º40' Brewing Co., TooleyBender Cider Co., Walking Man Brewery, and more
- The Food: Eat away—or eat into—your blues with the Greek tastes of Getta Gyro or savor barbecue from Pork, Wind, and Fire (other eateries are soon to be announced).
- The Music: Confirmed so far are Oregon blues-rocker Ty Curtis, who took home second place at the 2009 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and the Ken DeRouchie Band, who deliver a horn-packed hybrid of funk and soul suited for fans of Aretha Franklin and Lenny Kravitz as well as stylings from Kevin Selfe.
- Other Festivities: Cavort with fellow beer and blues enthusiasts, book a night at the luxurious nearby Skamania Lodge, or take advantage of handy camping opportunities.
