Children with sickle-cell disease must avoid exposure to cold environments in order to maintain their health. Consequently, many kids diagnosed with the condition assume that swimming is, for them, out of the question. The Children’s Sickle Cell Foundation (CSCF) works to counteract limitations imposed by sickle-cell disease, promoting the well-being of children with the illness, as well as their families, through a variety of programs providing support, education, and encouragement.
CSCF’s Learn2Swim Program allows children and their families to wade into a heated pool in medically supervised swimming lessons that keep them active and provide a relaxed social outlet. CSCF ensures that the water stays a warm 84 degrees Fahrenheit during lessons with certified swim instructors, under the supervision of medical professionals. Warm towels, snacks, and drinking water await on dry land. Many families cannot afford swimsuits for their children to participate in the program, so CSCF hopes to provide free suits to remove this barrier to their children's participation.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help encourage swimming lessons for children with sickle-cell anemia. If G-Team members raise $500, then the Children’s Sickle Cell Foundation can purchase 50 swimsuits for Learn2Swim program participants. Each additional $10 raised will fund a swimsuit for one child.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100 percent off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
