What You'll Get
According to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, only 54% of fourth-grade children from low-income families in Washington State can read at a basic level, compared to 79% from more affluent neighborhoods. In order to help bridge this educational gap, Page Ahead collects and distributes age-appropriate books to Seattle children in need so that they can practice reading at home.
A child's literacy skills are an early indicator of how he or she will fare in school. Kids whose parents read to them and give them a chance to read on their own at an early age often stand a better chance of succeeding academically and beyond. Page Ahead, in collaboration with local schools and social-service agencies, has distributed nearly 2 million new books to 605,000 children in need. By doing so, Page Ahead aims to foster developing language and reading skills and to ensure that more students will continue reading at or above grade level throughout their school careers.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help promote childhood reading skills by giving books to children. If G-Team members raise $400, 40 Seattle-area children in need will receive two age-appropriate books to take home. Each additional $10 raised will go toward funding two books for another child.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
